Who We Are

In pursuit of the “American Dream,” our parents migrated to the United States from Jamaica and Trinidad in the 1960s to find better opportunities and a better way of life. After almost two decades of diligent labor, they attained professional status and were able to move our growing family to Historic Ditmas Park.

As a family we were able to continue to grow and thrive in the culturally diverse Ditmas Park community and, even to this day, we still share a mutual love and affinity for the neighborhood that helped to make us who we are.

This is why we have created the Brooklyn Community Action Coalition–in order to preserve the unique character and integrity of Ditmas Park with its culturally rich history. Our main objective is to tackle the issue of growing commercialization of our historically residential communities in Brooklyn.
